The project to realize the Service Centre of Trento University College Residence is located South of Trento City, San Bartolomeo locality; an area in between Ferrovia of Valsugana and west of Via Verona.
The project offers the opportunity to provide this area with a service structure (sport club, culture club, leisure club, food court) implementing the attached residential area and providing in this way a new identity. The area is infact deviced not only as a central area for the university residences but for the whole city therefore public area for cultural, leisural and sport activities both for students and citizens.
The design aims to achieve the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification at platinum level.
The different functions inside the Service Centre are characterized by mutual functional autonomy guaranteed by independent access and possibility to be used at the same time.

The areas developped inside the service centre are the following:


OUTDOOR- public space

The entire project develops the possibility to divide a wide area on an inclined floor holding different public spaces. In between a mid level square and a system of slip roads connects all the functions included in the service centre.
With reference to the environmental sustainability and the containment of energy consuption, the north covering has been realized with photovoltaic panels.
The mid level square is easy to reach from both the upper area 220 where students’ residences are located and the downstream side through a slip road.
From the upper area 220 the only visibile element is the coffe shop covering while the gym covering holds a roof garden that brings to the square.

SPORT CENTRE AREA
Sport hall
The gym, with a height superior to 10 m, playground 40mx20 m is designed to be homologated for five people football, handball, basketball and volleyball. It is equipped with 500 seats planned according to UNI SPORT 9217 and by guaranteeing a proper visibility.
Inside the gym there are multipurpose rooms provided by sliding doors for the contemporary carrying out of different sports at the same time: judo, martial arts, rowing, aerobic, gymnastic, toning up activity like yoga and a wellness area.

Jungle gym - House of the Mountain

The jungle gym is a structure for the covered rock climbing equipped by additional areas designed for the members meeting point and professional people where they can have courses or train themselves and where a common family decides to spend an hour or the whole afternoon in rock climbing follwed by qualified staff in a well equipped environment.
The structure is composed by a 15 mt height rectangular hall with attached boulder divided in four different environements meant to be equippped for different difficulties levels and contemporary use of the spaces.
There is also the opportunity to make use of a 75 mt wall; part of it used for shows and competitions. It is also equipped by a reclining wall.

SHOW AREA
Area for production, artistic experimentations and parties.

At 208 m from sea level it has been placed a multipurpose space to hold any cultural and theatral event both technological and aereo spacial for any kind of artistic experimentation. This area will be able to hold a significative number of people and will be provided with different exits to guarantee the increased usuability of the structure.
The area includes an outdoor foyer, a paviment for the experimental theatre and the backstage. The experimental theatre is divided in a 15 mt x 15 mt space equipped by American beams ceiling and an overhead travelling crane to simplify lights and scenography installation for the shows.

Space for theatrical production, corse etc.

This space is placed on the same floor of the stage and it is equipped by three mutlipurposes halls meant for theatre courses, dance courses and any other courses.
A patio is located attached to the hall allowing in this way better ventilation and lightnings for the multipurposes halls.
The multipurposes halls for the theatre shows or rehearsals will allow acoustic insulation among the halls through suitable insulation system.

OFFICES AREA
The area is located at 212 from sea level and has access from 204 sea level.
The office area can hold up to 23 employees.
It includes a wide open-space as connection among the administration and directional offices with the meeting and conference rooms.

FOOD COURT
Restaurant

The food court is a space attached to the square at 217 from sea level and in the same time represents a wide terrace attached to the outdoor green area.
The restaurant is composed by two wide halls for the catering and services (kitchen, warehouse, etc.). The warehouse is attached with a suitable freight elevator to the garage floor at 204 mt from sea level where refrigerator rooms are placed.

Coffee shop and lounge bar

The coffee shop is placed inside the “mountain”, one of the most characterist elements of the project; ideal location as meting point to chat and socialize. It opens on the outdoor area and is therefore ideal for parties and meetings. It develops on 221.0 mt from sea level with direct access to the student dormitories.
