Infrastructures and ENVIRONMENT
The Infrastructures and Environment sector promotes and develops actions of environmental planning, in relation to "wide areas" as well as to "precise infrastructures", in the observance of the rules of the sustainable development. Such actions require multidisciplinary participations in the traditional fields of engineering and architecture and in the economic financial and legal administrative ones with the introduction of supports and decisional instruments such as the Life Cycle Assessment, in order to integrate the eco-sustainability criteria.
The market evolution towards new investments in infrastructural and urban reorganization, from big metropolitan areas to infrastructural works and specific building works, requires new and better structured proposals with a higher level of integration between specialised planning skills and process management skills.
The key role played by infrastructural "networks" within the urban development objectives increases the awareness about the influence of localisations and infrastructure shapes, from civil ones (hospitals, public administration offices, universities, big commercial and business centres), to transport-related ones (tramlines, undergrounds, roads and viaducts), to logistical ones etc,. on the environment, on the way we cross and live in it, developing a more mature understanding of issues related to sustainability of environment and landscape change, which require more innovative tools and skills.
In order to sustain the competitiveness of the economic system while improving the global quality of life, it is necessary to build new infrastructures bearing in mind a new, unavoidable standard: environmental sustainability.
STS spa philosophy and scope are to identify the problems a project has to face and the tools that are required to carry out an infrastructural project, to understand how valid a complex urban transformation project is, further to ensuring an appropriate answer to the problem from which a project has been conceived.
STS spa deals with transport infrastructures and their environmental impact with a wide range of innovative methodologies, involving a team of top-rate professionals who consider ongoing research and close contact with university as an essential development tool.
In addition to more "traditional" professional activities, STS has long developed an extensive experience as a concessionaire of health care infrastructures and "engineering integrator" in highly sophisticated works, improving and developing excellent project and construction management skills, becoming a valid partner of major private and public sector organisations.
